The breakfast was excellent, room was clean and tidy, as was the location. 15 to 20 minute walk to the main town square, The staff were very helpfull and also gave us advise on restaurants and tourist sites. Antonino took us to a favourite restaurant of his on his recommendation, we had a fabulous 25th Wedding Annivesary meal, I would recommend the restaurant, the veiws were fantastic. My wife and I had a fantastic time at il Roseto and would certainly recommend it to anyone. My thanks go to Michele & Antonino for all there help and advise while we stayed there and we wish you all the best for the future
Il Roseto was the best place we stayed in italy. Everything about the place was very good, breakfasts were execelent and the people running the B&B spoke very good english was very helpful in all ways. Will visit again.
What a great B&B! When we arrived, we received a warm welcome and were taken to our immaculate rooms. The owners, Michael and Tony , are terrific and getting to know the two of them was a BIG plus. They were always available when we had questions or needed help. They helped us to better understand the train schedules, they gave us restaurant recommendations (where the locals eat) and they gave us a lot of information about Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. We took their advice and had some wonderful day trips. On our first evening in Sorrento, Tony drove us to a wonderful restaurant totally off the tourist track and picked us up after we were finished with our meal. Our breakfasts were excellent (great pastries), and the walk from the B&B into town gave us the opportunity to observe local life. And, on our last day, Tony drove us to the train station. We have stayed in MANY B&B's in our travels, but never in one that provided so many special services. The B&B itself is terrific, but the icing is the incredible hospitality and kindness of Tony and Michael.
We were met in the courtyard reception area by Antonino, co-proprietor. He was very friendly, and he seemed to know who we were even before we introduced ourselves. He immediately showed us to our room, which was groundfloor and right off the courtyard (as are all their rooms). He did not simply "go through motions" when showing our room, but he took pains to ensure that all of our questions were answered and that we felt at home. This was by far the warmest welcome we received during our two-week tour of Italy. The room itself was wonderful. VERY clean (his wife tends to the daily upkeep), and well furnished. The writing desk chair was beautifully upholsetered, the bathroom was spotless with ornate tiles, and the wood-working around the doors, door-jams, and base boards was particularly elegant. Some people have complained that it is a bit of a walk away from downtown. 2 comments: 1) a simple ten-minute walk to your hotel room is a small price to pay for a clean, cozy, and QUIET room. 2) Downtown Sorrento is VERY congested, and VERY loud. We gladly walked the 10 minutes to Il Roseto; it is well worth it to feel like you're walking home instead of another tired, worn out hotel with drunken neighbors. Finally, the breakfast was well worth it (bread, pastries, cappucinos, yogurt, bottled water, and fersh-squeezed OJ with home grown oranges. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in a refreshing night's sleep to ensure a good day of site-seeing.
Our stay was wonderful and the family run b and b were very friendly and helpful. I would greatly recommend this place to anyone going to Sorrento.
michele and antoinino were very good hosts, helpful and kind, there fresh orange juice was the best ,rooms were clean,it was a little further away from the centre than we thought but the exercise was good, i would recommend il rosetto to you all.
We enjoyed our stay at Il Roesto very much while in Sorrento. We were able to stay at the B&B 2 nights of our 3 nights in the area and this was definitely our favorite spot. We were thrilled with the location as we had no steep hills to climb with our bags and it was virtually just off the main road of Corsa Italia which leads you right into the town centre. Our room was excellent with plenty of room, storage a fully stocked bar fridge (reasonably priced) and clean and fresh bathroom and bedroom. We enjoyed a breakfast of fresh croissants and bread every morning with the choice of coffee, tea, latte and the very best fresh sqeezed orange juice right from the trees in Sorrento! The owners of the B&B were extremely helpful, accomodating and friendly - we look forward to visiting again soon. London
Just a quick mail to say thank you very much for our stay. Your accomadation was a pleasure to stay in. Thank you, we will recommend you. Ciao Neil and Emma
Our family of four have just returned from a lovely holiday travelling in Italy, and spent our last 5 nights at Il Roseto in Sorrento. It is a lovely place to relax, and our room with four beds was large enough for us to not feel crammed in. It was spotlessly clean, with fresh towels everyday. The breakfasts were great, the children particularly enjoyed the chocolate rolls and we all enjoyed the fresh squeeze orange juice. The owner was very helpful, giving us advice on climbing Vesuvius, and the best way to get back to Naples airport (by coach). The only slight downside is the traffic in Sorrento, which is crazy, and the walk in to town each evening was not something we enjoyed. Also, you have to pay to use the hotel pool (5 euros each per day), although you are provided with lovely towels to use. This TripAdvisor Member: Liked: Cleanliness and relaxed atmosphere Disliked: Sorrento's traffic Tips/Secrets: Get off the train at S'Agnello which is nearer, and cross the road to walk - there is pavement on that side
My husband, myself and our two children aged 9 and 11 stayed in a family room at Il Roseto. The accomodation was perfect. The room was spacious, spottlessly clean, the beds comfortable and fresh towels provided daily. The room was air conditioned and a safe was provided at no addtional charge. The little fridge was a bonus! Toni and Michel made us feel very welcome and supplied a delightful and filling breakfast for guests every day. The fresh juice, yoghurts and pastries were devoured every morning! The expresso coffee was to die for! They gave us super advice about how to get to Pompeii and Herculaenum and advised on good restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble. The pool, owned by the neighbouring hotel, was ideally situated behind the B&B and was a bargain at 5 euros each per day. Towels were provided by Il Roseto for the pool which was another bonus. Watch out for the traffic in Sorrento! We had never seen so many mopeds and travelling at such speed with apparent lack of any rules of the road. That said, Il Roseto was well worth the walk along narrow paths amid heavy traffic. We have rarely felt that we would like to return somewhere once visited. Il Roseto is the exception! Ignore the traffic and enjoy a memorable stay with Michel and Toni! We have stayed in many much more pricey hotels that can't match the service and quality and value provided at Il Roseto! This TripAdvisor Member: Liked: Well appointed clean and very friendly service Disliked: The walk to get to it along very busy road Tips/Secrets: Get off at San Agnelo not Sorrento as it is closer to the accomodation
We stayed in the mini-apartment for four nights in late June with our two children aged 7 and 5. The rooms was two levelled with a narrow and twisting staircase so we slept upstairs and the kids downstairs. The room was clean and all furniture in good condition. Breakfast was excellent with fresh pastries and juice as well as tasty cappucini - a great way to fuel up before heading out to see the sights. The walk into Sorrento is a challenge as the road can be very busy and the walkway tends to appear and disappear along the way. It is a 20 minute to down hill walk to the main area and longer on the return - not a problem unless hauling bags up the hill from the bus or train station. It is important to note if getting off the airport bus, bus from Rome or train, use the stops at St Agnello as they will be closer. We enjoyed our stay at Il Roseto and would recommend it as a base in the Sorrento area.
Our group consisted of three families (10 People) and we occupied four rooms at the Il Roseto. I found them on the trip advisor and was more than satisfied with the choice. We booked on-line directly with them and they were very prompt with their reply. I confirmed our reservation several times (type “A” personality with a small dose of OCD) as the date of the trip approached. They were always friendly and responsive. We asked them for advice regarding travel from Rome and they provided several options with analysis of the relative merits of each option. Michael came to the train station in Sorrento and picked us up when we arrived so that we would not need a taxi. This became all the more impressive after our only taxi ride in Sorrento which cost 40 euros to go about 1.5 km. Michael and Tony taught us to use the bus and we were off to discover the peninsula. Michael and Tony arranged a great guide to Pompeii and the National Archeological Museum in Naples. They provided time tables and ticket information for the METROMAR speed boats to Naples from Sorrento. They suggested great restraints and places to view the world cup games. Tony made several great local and Tuscan wine suggestions as well. Our rooms were clean and well maintained. We took advantage of the pool (5 euros per person per day) every day we were there and the kids loved it (and the parents loved that time too). Breakfast consisted of fresh pastries from Sorrento, freshly squeezed Orange Juice and wonderful cappucino's. Michael supplied some cherries from their trees which were great. We shopped each day in Sorrento and did a picnic style dinner on the communal porch each evening. Other guest joined us and it was just like a little party every night. I loved this place and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy.
We stayed at Il Roseto for 3 days during our honeymoon and we couldn't have been more impressed. The room was impeccably clean with a well-stocked mini bar. The furnishings were nice and the tile in the bathroom was very pretty. The breakfasts were so yummy with the best yogurt, pastries and freshly squeezed orange juice every day. We took advantage of the pool access at the hotel next door (5 euros a day - well worth it, the pool was pristine and surrounded by gorgeous flowers- so relaxing!). The best part of staying at Il Roseto, though, is the family that runs it. They are so gracious and genuinely concerned for the satisfaction of their guests. Tony went above and beyond the call of duty by giving us a ride to the train station at San Agnello when we departed. We hope to return to Sorrento one day and we will stay at Il Roseto again.
We had a week at Il Roseto in June 06 and couldnt fault the B&B, the rooms are spotlessley clean and have everything you need, minibar that isnt overpriced, LCD TV, Hairdryer, Safety Deposit box in wardrobe (which is free unlike most of the big hotels in sorento), good airconditioning that actually worked! A nice big wardrobe with large drawers, good sized king size bed, cleaned everyday and fresh towels everyday. You can use the pool from the Hotel Girasole next door, which is right behind the B&B for just €5 per day. The family are lovely and hospitable, we didnt spend a lot of time here but the breakfast was lovely, fresh juice, fresh fantastic coffee and lovely fresh breads and cakes. The only down side that we found was the walk into town, it only took 20 minutes but for the first 5 minutes there arent any proper pavements and after 20 minutes of breathing in traffic fumes it gets a bit much! But if you can get your head around the buses then these are frequent and stop right near to the B&B. Taxis are expensive although we used them a few times for late night returns. Around €15 no matter where you go, the port, the bus stop etc. We flew into Naples and got the public bus into Sorrento for €7 each, takes around 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Stops near to the main square, if you have luggage then get a taxi to Il Roseto, if not its about a 15 minute walk, but difficult with heavy luggage. If you get off the bus at Saint Agnello apparently its quicker. So all in all I would recommend this B&B, I would go back in a heartbeat. It wouldnt be any good for children though as the walk with a buggy or young children would be a bit of a nightmare!
We are three couples from Kitchener, Canada who were celebrating anniversaries in Italy. We did our research on Sorrento and read many hotel & B&B reviews. We decided (based on the reviews) to give the IL Roseto a shot and we were not disappointed. I booked on-line directly with them and their follow up was excellent. I confirmed our reservation twice as we approached our vacation dates of May 28th ( paranoid I guess, never been to Europe before). We received email responses within 24 hours. We had a long drive from ROME in our van as we got lost and when we arrived at Il Roseto by Michael, he was very accommodating and new we were tired and offered us some of their homemade wine as a way to relax. We met their children and spouses and everyone was so kind, warm, and friendly. Ask Tony or Michael for recommendations and they are more than helpful . The rooms were clean and well taken care of. Breakfast consisted of fresh pastries from Sorrento (I believe Tony drives in at 6:00am to pick them up everyday) freshly squeezed Orange Juice and wonderful cappucino's. We stayed in the Junior Suite and it was very large with 2 levels and a large bathroom. We were taken to a wonderful restaurant overloking the sea and picked up. This was a nice service they provided and expected nothing in return. The walk to Sorrento is interesting as the roads and shoulders are narrow and the traffic can be crazy depending on the time of the day. It takes approx 20 minutes to walk to the main area. We are all in our 40's and quite enjoyed the excercise. We did not use the pool, but walked down to it and it looked quite nice and clean. Just too busy ! We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Sorrento area.
