My husband and I enjoyed a delightful four nights at il Rosetto. The Bed and breakfast feels more like you are with family. Both my husdand and I were really impressed with their hospitality. The owners go out of their way to be helpful with information of sights in the area. They really aim to please. The rooms are immaculate and decorated in fine taste. The tile in our bathroom was beautiful. In addition, the rooms are quiet so there is no problem in getting a good nights sleep. The location is also very convenient for day trips.. You can walk to two different train stops. One day we took a day trip to Naples and Pompeii and getting back to il Rosetto was not complicated. The breakfast in the morning is excellent. They serve fresh orange juice outside with an array of delicious breads ,pastries, and yogurt. An added treat was the capuccino. You can even get seconds. We would definitely return to il Rosetto.
WOW!!! This place is a jewel! Tonino, Michele and their wives welcome you with open arms into their magnificent establishment, and our stay there (30 members of my wife's family) rated this leg of our tour the best. Upon arrival we were treated to the best granita ever (that's saying something given I am from Sicily) made each day on the premises from Tonino's lemons. The decor is exquisite and the view from the balcony of the triple room, over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, is breathtaking. Each morning there is a fabulous breakfast, with a variety of fresh pastries, cappuccino, tea, espresso etc on tap. The breads were mouthwatering, and we were even able to request a very early breakfast when we had a planned trip to Capri. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, and we felt like family. Tonino even managed to accommodate 8 of our troupe at a 4 star Hotel up the street at a reduced price, such was the service. This truly is a magnificent place to stay and the prices are very reasonable. We can't wait to return
We wish that we could live there forever....we will be back soon. Hello to all and we miss you and your warm hospitality. Annette,Debra & Betty(our mother)
Il Roseto is one of the nicest places in Italy,as is Sorrento. You will not be disappointed. The proprietor is helpful and pleasant. He will carry your bags upstairs ( the only time that happened in our entire two weeks in Italy). The rooms are huge and well-appointed. We had an amazing view of the bay from our balcony. The location is a short walk into Sorrento and the historic area, although the walk seemed longer on the way back. Breakfast was fanstastic. You will love this place. I would have gladly stayed longer.
Just got back from 11 nights at Il Roseto - what a fantastic little place, wish we were still there! All of the messages left here are true, fab hospitality, yummy fresh breakfast, hosts who got up early on our last day to make sure we had breakfast even! Would recommend it wholeheartedly. And the advice about the Pizzeria on the left - a la poeta - is also correct. Had some lovely meals there, better than in Sorrento itself, but not as good as the Bikini Restaurant just outside Vico Equense - try it - sunset and excellent food and service overlooking the sea. Thanks to Antonino. Michele and Mariella - we'll definitely be back.
We stayed at the Il Roseto for 2 nights in May. We found it to be a lovely B&B. The staff was very friendly and tried their best to give us recommendations. Our room was beautiful. It was spotless and had a huge bathroom and the shower was the largest we saw during our two week stay in Italy. The breakfast consisted of breads and yogurt, juice and coffee. The only drawback to this hotel is the walk to the center of town. It took about 15 minutes, but wasn't a huge deal. We walked to it from the train station with our luggage. It was a bit cumbersome...we would recommend taking a taxi if you have lots of luggage or if you are older and it's difficult to walk while dragging luggage behind. Young people can definitely walk it...just prepare for a 20 minute walk if you have luggage. WIthout luggage, the walk was no big deal. We enjoyed looking in the shops along our walk. Sorrento was a great central location if you'd like to visit nearby Capri, Positano, Amalfi, etc. We would definitely stay at Il Roseto again, because the price was great for the nice room and friendly service.
This B&B is fantastic, the rooms were super clean and very new and large, we had very nice patio as well. We drank wine and ate pizza, very much recommend the local style pizza place on the way towards the city center, on the left side, about two blocks from Il Roseto. The hosts were very helpful and the breakfast included freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly bakes breaks and sweets. Location is a bit off, 15 min walk to center, but the price is worth it, which is very reasonable. I would recommend this hotel, but we think next we definetly want to get something with an ocean view, the hotels between Positano and Amalfi looked amazing, of course they would be more expensive.
This property offers much more than just accomodation and breakfast. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and felt at home immediately. Its located about 15 minutes from centre of Sorrento and thats a good thing because central Sorrento is very touristy and busy. Il Roseto is nearer to San Agnello, more a suburb. It adjoins a hotel whose pool set in wonderful lemon and orange gardens is available to guests for 5 euro a day, open 930 to 630. It also has a great snack bar with lovely food at reasonable prices. Il Roseto itself offers spotless rooms which are absolutely lovely, complete with minibar, tv, aircondition, balcony, great bathroom - faultless in all ways. Breakfast is certainly well worth getting up for - lovely rolls, juice, coffee, yoghurt - a lovely start to any busy day sightseeing. The family who run it are more than helpful, friendly hosts which adds greatly to this already great accomodation. Our only regret was that we had so little time to stay in Sorrento and this property. There are several great restaurants nearby but Il Poeta at 325 Corsa Italia was superb. It was unassuming in appearance and could easily be passed by but the food and service excelled anywhere else we tried. Some of the touristy places in centre of Sorrento were very disappointing though Delfinos on the Marina Grande was good too with lovely tables right out on seafront. Friendliness, genuine warm welcome from the family, superb accomodation and breakfast makes Il Roseto one of the best places to stay in all of Italy. Also should point out that all emails, enquiries, etc. were replied to very promptly and efficiently . Full marks and more!!
Our trip to beautiful Sorrento was made all the more enjoyable by our stay at the Il Roseta. Antonino, Mariella and Michele where more than perfect hosts who genuinely care about their guests and go out of their way to help make your stay perfect. We are Australian and while my wife Anna speaks fluent Italian (parents from Campania) English is spoken perfectly by Antonino, Mariella and Michele. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed. The modern and efficient air-con was a welcome relief. The centre of Sorrento is a short (15-20 min) walk and the charming Sant' Agnello is about a 10 min stroll. On our last night, Antonio and Mariella drove us to and from a lovely restaurant on the breathtaking Amalfi coast line. The hospitality shown at Il Roseta was a stark contrast to the rest of out trip in Italy. Consistent to the end of our stay, Antonio would not hear of us catching a cab and drove us to the Circumvesuviana for our trip to Roma via Napoli. We have just made our first batch of limoncello, which, while not as spectacular as that which we sampled in Sorrento, certainly takes us back in time. We hope to "ritornare a Sorrento" one day and to the Il Roseta in particular.
We chose to return to Il Roseto to spend the few days before our wedding in Italy, which I mention only to emphasise our confidence that we would again find a warm welcome and a beautiful experience. Much has been said about the quality and cleanliness of the rooms, the delicious breakfasts, and the warmth and helpfulness of the proprietors. All will meet the highest expectations, but in addition you can expect to feel that you are among trusted friends. For example, while personal safes are provided in the rooms, I would not for one moment worry if I forgot to use one and instead left my wallet and cash on the dressing table for the day! If honest people, warmth, cleanliness and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere are important to you, then Il Roseto is the place to be in Sorrento! Graham and Alison
We all loved our 3 days at Il Roseto! We were 2 couples traveling together, each with our teenage daughters. We stayed in 2 rooms here for 3 nights. Our room was the mini apartment where there is a wonderfully comfortable bed upstairs and another bed downstairs for our girls. There was lots of room to spread out and even a little kitchen that we used one night to make our own dinner after buying the ingredients from a nearby grocery. The breakfast was our favorite in Italy. We were served an assortment of delicious rolls from a nearby bakery along with made to order coffees and fantastic freshly squeezed orange juice. The walk into town from either train station is not the best, but it is not long and worth it to come back each evening to this quiet spot in the lemon grove away from the noisy downtown traffic. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Sorrento!
Okay, the truth is that Il Roseto doesn't need another review telling you how great the breakfasts are, how friendly the staff is, how clean and perfect the rooms are...but it's all true and then some! The only "downside" listed in reviews from other folks is that it's a bit of a walk to/from town. 15 to 20 minutes as some reviews said seemed to be an exaggeration. Our group of 5 travelers who are in their early 30s and are used to varied levels of physical activity found it to be a "non-issue". The only time it was inconvenient was on arrival/departure from the train station (because we had luggage). We wish we could've spent our whole stay in Italy at Il Roseto. Note: take Michael's restaurant recommendations, you won't be disappointed!
The owners of Il Roseto go out of their way to make you stay not only the best you can find in Sorrento, but the best I have had in all of Italy. The rooms could not be cleaner, nor the beds more confortable. Both Antonino and Michale, your hosts, are both knowledgable about hikes, walks and restaurants, but also about the local history. If they don't know the answer to your questions, they will find the answers! The breakfast is not only over the top, but amazing. Every morning they go to a local bakery and get the 6 or 7 different sweets. They also buy fresh bread and serve the best coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice I have had in Italy. Truely, if you want to spend some time in Sorrento, Il Roseto is the place to stay. Yes, you will have a short walk to the downtown piazza, but I find it not only enjoyable (a bit traffic filled, but where in italy do you find only quiet streets to walk down...? ) but filled with many smiles and many classic italian activities surrounding you.
